I really need to redouble my efforts. I lost seven pounds last month, but since a few days before Halloween, all I have been doing is eating candy, candy, candy. I've skipped a few meals because of my ridiculous candy intake, but mostly, I've just been eating regular food and tons of sugar on top of it! Argh.
My heart has been skipping beats, which happens when I eat too much crap. When I eat sugar, white carbs or have caffeine, I have terrible palpitations that are so worrisome and distracting.
So, instead of sitting here beating myself up, I am pledging to get back on track. No more chocolate. No more sugar. No more crappy non-foods.
There are 7 weeks until Christmas, right? I'm pledging to lose at least 9 pounds by Christmas Eve! (Which will bring me to a nice, even number.) Who is with me? It's not an unreasonable amount of weight to lose... it only means that we can't eat holiday cookies and candy and cocktails until we're sick and regretting ever being born, right? haha.
If I make my goal, I'm going to buy myself some lampwork earrings on etsy. If I don't... well, too bad. FU fatty, you get nothing. haha. Just kidding. But no, really. I get nothing.

Lampwork Jewelry
While thinking about christmas shopping, Kurt told me that his mom mentioned that she was really into glass jewelry, lately. I decided to search for lampwork bead pieces on etsy, not really thinking that *I* was necessarily into glass jewelry. But, I found SO many beautiful pieces that now I'm totally salivating over owning some lampwork jewelry of my own. Take a look! (Click pictures to be taken to the etsy listing and owner's shop.)

Super Baby B!
Just a quick post to show off Scout's Halloween costume this year!

Super Baby B!

She was a super trick or treater, too. After EVERY house, she would say, "Some more trick or treating?"

Her little voice saying, "Trick or Treat" and "Sank you!" was the cutest thing in the universe. She is the most loved kid anywhere, ever.

And Mommy and Daddy are pretty loved, too. :)
I hope you had a wonderful Halloween, too!
The only down side is that I've eaten enough candy today to shame me until Christmas!

Weekly Catch Up
What a busy week!
Last Sunday, we tried to take Scout trick-or-treating at the zoo, but it was SO crowded. We pulled into the parking lot, took one look at all the people and pulled right back out. We went to the children's museum, instead, since we were already on that end of town.

My favorite treat:

Mix .5 cup vanilla frozen yogurt with ~.5 cup of canned pumpkin, add cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice and smoosh together. Why do we only eat pumpkin at this time of year? I love it so much. I add it to everything... smoothies, ice cream, oatmeal, spread on toast with almond butter. It's just so yummy. I'm going to eat pumpkin all year round.
Another big batch of vegan chili, this time with red peppers, black beans, zucchini, onion and tvp.

I've been SO crazy busy with skirt orders, too! October is always a busy month because my Black and White Striped Skirt suddenly becomes popular for Halloween. I've been making myself crazy sewing for hours every day. I can see the end of the tunnel, though! I only have 3 more skirts to finish and this batch of orders will be done and I can take a break. :)
Finished another bustle skirt, this time in brown and turquoise:

I've been so busy that, for our anniversary this year, instead of buying me a gift, my husband took the day off work and spent it with Scouty so that I could have the time to myself to get things done! It was the best present EVER!

Kabocha Squash
I have a new favorite food. Kabocha Squash (or it's sometimes called Buttercup Squash) is so yummy. It's like a cross between a sweet potato and a pumpkin. It's really starchy and so autumn tasting and just, yum.

You can see one of the little guys in the corner of this picture. They're kind of like a dark green pumpkin.

Wash the outside of the squash and kind of whittle down any little bumps that might be holding dirt, but don't peel it before you cook it. The peel gets soft during roasting and you can eat it, and get all the benefits of the deep green color!
I like to sprinkle mine with cinnamon (or pumpkin pie spice) and roast it on a lightly oiled piece of foil. When I make this squash, I eat like... a pound of it a day. It's even so yummy out of the fridge, after it's been roasted. Luckily, it only has about 30 calorie per 3/4 cup!

I recommend...

My new pinecone necklace from Peaches4Me on etsy. It's so darling and cute. And it was such a pleasure to come by. Peaches4Me is a wonderful seller to work with. I've now purchased 5 items from her shop and every transaction has been a delight.
I also want to tell you about a soap I recently purchased.

Cranberry Marmalade Three Butter Soap from HeathensHearth
I buy bath and body products on etsy ALL the time, and this soap might be my favorite bar I've EVER purchased. It smells SO SO SO SO SO amazing. When I open the door to the bathroom... the whole room is scented with deliciously tart cranberries. I can't get enough of it. Also, it's a really big bar and came with a generous and TO DIE FOR sample of sandalwood soap. I'll definitely be back to HeathensHearth. You should go and treat yourselves, too!
